The wine has a ruby-purple color of medium intensity.
The taste of the wine conquers with its chic velvety texture, softness of tannins, an impeccable balance of power and roundness, excellent freshness. In the palate, notes of blackberries, herbs, Darjeeling tea and red fruits stand out, and hints of fresh raspberries stand out especially brightly. The finish is long, spicy, dry.
The wine has an expressive aroma with rich tones of dried blueberries, rhubarb, warm red cherries, dusty earth, minerals and spices.
We recommend serving the wine with meat and game dishes, pasta and cheeses.

Old Guard and Vanguard wines have a well-defined style. "Vanguard" epitomizes the richness of a velvety texture, while "Old Guard" is austere structure. The wines of the "Old Guard" are complex, energetic, with a touch of tension. Each "Guard" is a special example of Pinot Noir or Chardonnay in a well-defined style.
"The Hilt" The Vanguard Pinot Noir is a dry red wine that will reveal all the secrets of texture with bright fruitiness, unobtrusive sweetness and velvety decadence. This wine is made in a sultry, seductive, rich style. Pinot Noir (clones of Mt. Eden, 667) for this wine is grown in coastal vineyards in Sta Rita Hills. Harvested when the berries reach optimum ripeness and are completely cleared of the stems. The vinification process follows the traditional method of producing red wines. Extract of wine takes place in French oak barrels, 20% of which are new, 80% are neutral. Ripening on the lees lasts at least 12 months.
The Hilt - project young and talented winemaker Matt Dees. The Ze Hilt estate is located in the northern, closest to the ocean, windswept corner of Sta Rita Hills, almost 13 miles from the ocean. A unique and expansive terroir, with varying heights, soil types and microclimates, is a patchwork quilt divided between different vineyard areas, providing tremendous scope for Dis's imagination and talent to create wines with distinctive styles. However, there are 3 main factors that determine the success of Ze Hilt wines: poor vineyard soils, strong winds and a cool sea climate. The Hilt is one of Screaming Eagle's most successful brands.
Producer's description
Screaming Eagle is a company founded in 1986 by former real estate agent Jean Phillips and specializing in the production of exclusive Napa Valley wines, always in very limited quantities. Jean had never dreamed that her wine would be so in demand when, in 1992, after years of selling grapes to various wineries in the Napa Valley, she decided to find out what her homemade wine was worth, created in a plastic bin. She took the sample to Robert Mondavi of the Robert Mondavi Winery , who encouraged Jean to introduce her wine to the general public. Screaming Eagle has become an iconic winery in just a short amount of time, with just 57 acres of vineyards and producing about 500 cases of wine annually, but Screaming Eagle is exactly the producer that almost all wine enthusiasts have heard of, but very few have been able to grab this exclusive. In 2000, at the Napa Valley auction, a 6-liter bottle of the 1992 Cabernet Sauvignon "Imperial Screaming Eagle" was sold for $ 500,000. This speaks volumes. Screaming Eagle gained almost instant fame after wine critic Robert Parker gave the flagship wine of 1992 (first harvest) an almost perfect rating - 99 points out of 100. Subsequently, the winery more than once received the magical 100 Parker points! In 2006, Phillips sold the Screaming Eagle to Charles Banks and Stan Krohnke, and in 2009, Krohnke became the full and sole owner of the winery.
