Interesting Facts
Grenader Brewery, Braggot WASP IPA is an unfiltered, unpasteurized beer drink in the Braggot style. Braggot is a hybrid drink, a mixture of beer and mead. Braggot has a long history, having been a popular drink in Europe, mainly in the post-Renaissance period, and was quite popular in regions such as Wales until the 19th century. Its name has Irish and Welsh roots meaning "to sprout", referring to the grain portion of this mead.
The main difference between a braggot and a mead is that a braggot features both honey and beer (i.e. malt, hops and/or yeast) in a complementary, though not necessarily equal, way. The honey can be of different types. A WASP IPA braggot is an interesting combination of a powerful English-style IPA and a honey that softens it with its sweetness.
