Interesting Facts
"Kloster-Sud" is a rare, unique, special red-gold beer, brewed according to the Merzen beer tradition. The so-called triple mashing process, which is rarely used today, as well as maturation for a long time, give this beer a special character. Selected malt and fine aromatic hops give Kloster-Sud a balanced malt sweetness, fruity sourness and light astringency. "Kloster-Süd" goes well with roasts, steaks, smoked meats, and also with desserts.
Producer's description
In 1109, a monastery was founded in the Weissenoer countryside and outbuildings were erected, where the monks cooked their own food and brewed beer. Monastic brewing traditions have become the backbone of the modern Weissenoher brewery. The brewery takes great pride in the fact that the raw materials for the production of its beer are grown in the immediate vicinity, in places where malt and hops were grown back in monastic times. The same applies to brewing water from natural sources in the Jura heights, which in ancient times supplied the monastery with drinking and brewing water. The Weissenoher Brewery continues the old monastic tradition, but at the same time is constantly developing the art of brewing and prides itself on brewing good beer and will continue to produce it in the future.
