"Waltzing Matilda" Shiraz - red semi-dry wine, which is used in the production of the grape varieties of Shiraz, which grows in the vineyards with mixed soils. After harvesting, the berries are exposed to classical vinification in steel tanks at controlled temperature. Wine is recommended to use in the next 2-3 years after release.
On the wine label - lyrics "Dancing Matilda", which is the unofficial anthem of Australia. This song is about the hard life svagmena (itinerant wanderer), who travels with a bundle on his shoulders. When walking, "Matilda" (so affectionately called a nodule) hits the wanderer back, not recalling himself.
Producer's description
The first vines winery Byrne were planted in 1930. Because the vineyards of South Australia did not know what the phylloxera, it is only some of the old vines, which is now used for commercial purposes.
In 1963, Eric and Romla Byrne acquired the ownership of a vineyard near the Overland Corner, South Australia. On limestone soils were planted with vines of Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay. In addition to these varieties in the vineyard grow unique old vines, from which the harvest is used for wine production "Antiquarian Rare White Blend". For several decades, Byrne has expanded its area of vineyards, buying land in South Australia. To date, the total area of farms over 100 hectares.
Over the years the company grew grapes for sale to other major wine companies, however, it was decided to produce their own products in 2008. Today wine companies Byrne are well known in many countries around the world. They win medals and awards at various international competitions.
