Interesting Facts
Irish whiskey "Ravendale" is named after the area near the Great Nothern distillery in Dundalk, at the foot of the picturesque Cooley Mountains. This is an area of hills and forests, clean air and crystal clear water. All this has incorporated the rich taste of Ravendale whiskey. After distillation, the whiskey was aged 3 years in oak barrels.
Producer's description
Great Northern Distillery is a privately owned company whose owners, the Teeling family, previously founded the Cooley Distillery and reinstated the Kilbeggan factory before they were sold in 2012.
The Great Northern Distillery was opened in 2013 at the site of the former Great Northern Brewery brewery in Dundalk. The area is ideal for the production of spirits requiring distillation, thanks to access to clean water from nearby sources near the Kuli Mountains. The company is engaged in the supply of distillate for other brands and brands, custom distillation and the production of its own alcoholic beverages.
A team of creative people working in the Great Northern Distillery literally works wonders. A deep idea is embedded in each bottle that supports quality content. The best alcohols are obtained from proven, pure local raw materials. Distillation is carried out in small batches in copper cubes, as was done many years ago. In addition to 16 million liters of whiskey per year, the company produces a small amount of gin.
