Whisky "Lossit" Classic Selection Blended Malt, 0.7 L
Tasting Notes
Whiskey light golden color.
A slightly rough taste of whiskey reveals wayward sea tones of salty breezes and iodine. Enveloping echoes of a fire and smoke complete the picture.
The characteristic aroma of whiskey reveals light peat notes, juicy nuances of a ripe pear, warm shades of pepper, green tea and almonds.
It is recommended to use whiskey in the classical way - as a digestif. A few drops of water will help to better reveal the complex taste.
Interesting Facts
"Lossit" Classic Selection Blended Malt - blended whiskey from a Scottish distillery, engaged in the restoration of lost recipes. Lossit factory worked on the island of Isla in the years 1817-1867. From the cottage industry for the illegal manufacture of adhesive tape, it grew into the largest enterprise in the region, but, in the wake of the massive closure, the distilleries also could not stand the competition and were abandoned.
Whiskey "Lossit" has a characteristic profile for the island of Islay - brackish and slightly smoky. As during its heyday, it was produced using peat, but it has a significantly lower smoke indicator in contrast to most analogues. This fact can be explained by historical reasons - 150 years ago peat in distilleries was popular simply because it was the most affordable type of fuel. Now the level of smokiness of whiskey is regulated artificially in order to change the organoleptic of whiskey in the right direction.
“Lossit” Classic Seleksh won the “Spirits Business” award as the best among blended whiskeys.
Producer's description
About a hundred whiskey factories were closed in Scotland during the 20th century. The industry has been staggered by wars, Prohibition, political instability, and the growing mass market for alcohol. The Lost Distillery company , conveniently located in the Dumfries estate in southern Scotland, does not forget about this tragedy and does not give up in search of unique old recipes for the national drink in order to restore its former greatness. This is done by the historian of whiskey, step by step exploring all aspects of the production process of each closed distillery in order to borrow the best experience from old masters and revive the taste of the past.
The company's assortment expanded over time, and the geography of production covered all the major Scotch whiskey regions. Isle, Highland, Lowland and Speyside can boast their brands from a reputable manufacturer. The company does not directly manufacture distillates - it purchases ready-made alcohols, both old and young, from about 40 different companies and reproduces the “assembly” of each individual recipe. The Lost Distillery whiskey has been repeatedly awarded gold medals and other prestigious trophies at international competitions, including The Spirits Business and World Whiskies Awards.
