Wieninger, Pinot Noir Select - very elegant dry red wine that is expressing itself all the best features of Pinot Noir, is an irresistible temptation for lovers of good wines. Wine is made from grapes grown in the area "Bisamberg" in Nussberg, on limestone soils. Good drainage properties of the soil, a relatively small amount of precipitation and protection from the wind makes this one of the best vineyard in Austria for growing Pinot Noir. The grapes are harvested by hand, processed and placed in the modern fermentation tanks. Aging wine in oak barrels takes a total of 28 months. The wine is bottled without fining and filtration.
Producer's description
Wieninger winery was founded in 1905. Today the winery manages Fritz Vininger - fourth-generation family Vininger. He was a child watching his parents work at the winery and know who wants to become. I must say that Fritz's mother was one of the first female graduates of winemaking in Klosterneuberg (the oldest wine-making school in Europe). After graduating from university, Fritz in 1985 spent a year working in the vineyards of California. It was there that he was convinced that the future of wine in Austria - in the production of high quality wines from different grape varieties, and that was his inspiration for the creation of high-quality wines in their own winery. After returning from California, Fritz took over full control of the family winery and for several years led him to the first position in the market. Already in 1989, the first wine exports Wieninger to Europe in 1990, Fritz was named "Winemaker of the Year" and in 1995 the winery began to export their wines to the United States.
Significantly expanding the area of vineyards, Fritz has worked tirelessly to their development and cultivation of different grape varieties - both native and international. Most recently, he led a movement to revive the wine traditions of Vienna and began to produce "Wiener Gemischte Satz" ("Vienna mixed bag") - multisortovye wine, which quickly gained recognition wine critics. He found in these mixed blends taste of Vienna, as he put it: "All Vienna in a glass."
For more than 20 years of wine Fritz Viningera characterized as world-class wines. In two years, built a new winery. "The entire production process is now in one place.
