Producer's description
Valduero Winery is one of the first in the region of Ribera del Duero. It was created by Gregorio Alvarez Garcia in the small village of Gumiel de Mercado, in the province of Burgos, right in the heart of Ribera del Duero. While in the region, there were only about half a dozen wineries, which, despite a long tradition of winemaking in the region and local wines great reputation among connoisseurs, were largely unknown to the general public.
Today the winery manages Yolanda García Viadero, daughter of the founder. An agronomist by training, she attaches great importance to the cultivation of grape Tinto Fino, describing him as "an exceptional and unique in Spain, with a strong sense of terroir in his character, which is reflected in the structure and acidity of the wines, which are at the same level as the best wine in the world. " Yolanda is also convinced that the great grapes takes time and care in their development, to show his best side, and the wine should be excellent in all respects in order to please the consumer. That is why Valduero wines are aged and preserved at the winery until until they reach a great harmony and balance, which are always based on their capacity. For this reason Valduero focuses on the production of wines of Crianza, Reserva and Gran Reserva. Exposure takes place in an old wine cellar of the XVII century to a depth of 40 meters and an area of 1 square kilometer.
