Producer's description

Valdikava Winery was founded in 1953, when Bramante Martini - grandfather of the current owner - bought an old farm in Montosoli, the best area for the production of Brunello wineries. Bramante grow grapes sold to the famous Biondi-Santi economy, whose wines were already well known not only in Europe but also in other parts of the world. In 1968, Bramante decided to create wines under its own brand, and produced the first Brunello Valdikava. Then Bramante founded Brunello Consortium, which includes 19 winemakers, designed to control the quality of the wines of Brunello di Montalcino (Consortium today has 200 members - producers of Brunello).

After 15 years, the grandson of Bramante - Vincenzo Abbrutstseze became head of the family winery, and prestige wines Valdikava began to rise steadily upward. Practical manager, Abbrutstseze assembled a very good staff to help Valdicava rise to the top and ensure the success of its wines, and its philosophy and techniques of winemaking have become known not only in the Montalcino and has been copied by other winemakers. One such method is the constant research of grapes and terroir. Creating Brunello, Vincenzo picked grapes from nine different single vineyard and vinified them separately from each other, and then chose the best examples of which were included in the blend of Brunello Valdikava. The result was a "terrible" wine of great intensity, have excellent storage potential. "It was not easy to achieve, but in my heart I knew that we could do it" - says Vincenzo - "our soil and cultivation methods in the use of very sophisticated building the earth. When I started, in my mind it was the best wine, and now I firmly believe that we have achieved our goal. "

Brunello from Valdikava, in addition to numerous international awards, has recently received the highest possible rating of 100 points from the "Wine Spectator", and this event - for the second in the history of Brunello publication "Wine Spectator". Today Valdicava climbed to the top of Italian wine and, of course, hold out on it, because Vincenzo Abbrutstseze not going to stop with his professional career.
