Producer's description
The history of " Torraccia del Piantavigna" began in 1977, when Pierino Piantavigna, the ancestor of the current generation of the Francoli family, planted the first Nebbiolo vines in the hills near Gemme. The name given by the company founded thirteen years later is directly related to Pierino, his passion for growing grapes, as well as the area where the land belonging to Piettavigna was located - “la Torraccia”. The official year of creation of the company is 1997, and Alessandro Francoli, president of the winery Luigi Francoli, was directly involved in its appearance.
Torracca del Piertavigna is located in Upper Piedmont, at the foot of Monte Rosa. The company owns about 100 acres of vineyards, where they grow mainly the three most common local varieties. The current generation of the company's management is inspired by the story of the founder Pierino. And at the same time, it seeks to direct its forces not only to create recognizable wines, but also to expand the potential of local lands with respect to the environment and society. The well-deserved appreciation and reflection of Torracci del Piantavigna's competent activities are the prestigious Eco-Friendly awards from the Touring Club Italiano, received by the company in 2014, 2017 and 2018.
