Producer's description
Kojima Sohonten was founded by Yazaemono Kojima in 1597. Since then, the company's management has been inherited, and today it is headed by a representative of the 23rd generation. In 1603, representatives of one of the most influential families in Japan of that time drew the attention of Kojima's family sake, and the company became a court supplier. The production of Kojima sake did not stop even during the ban on the production of alcohol, the company was one of the few who was allowed to work. In 1984, the old building, in which they brewed "Toko" sake until 1983, was turned into a museum of sake. The building is of architectural value as well, it was built without the use of nails. In 2003, the museum was visited by the crown prince and princess of Japan. Today, the company's products are exported to 15 countries of the world, the quality of the sake produced is recognized far beyond Japan, as evidenced by awards at prestigious international competitions.
