Producer's description
The province of Mendoza is one of the largest and most important wine regions of Argentina. Mendoza has a unique combination of terroir features. About 80% of premium Argentinean wines are produced here. High mountains, arid climate with 300 sunny days a year, low air humidity and natural irrigation through melt water flowing from the Andes create unique conditions for growing exclusive grapes. Due to the dryness of the air, development of diseases typical for the vineyard (rot and fungi) is inhibited, while a small number of insect pests allows the use of a minimum of insecticides. The high level of insolation and high mountains impart a special character to Malbec and other grape varieties: rich color and aroma, freshness, bright fruitiness, complexity and depth of taste with special tannins, demonstrating excellent potential for development.
The building of the winery built in 1970, equipped with the latest enological technology and surrounded by olive trees, is located in the city of Cruz de Piedra in the center of the province of Mendoza. Bodega Argento is committed to sustainable development and the preservation of the environment. Work in the vineyards begins with a study of the needs and type of soil. The irrigation of each plot is selected in such a way as to maximize the use of water and energy resources. Wine design involves the use of berries collected from areas with radically different conditions, which allows for greater complexity and nontriviality of taste. High fruitiness, purity, vigor, elegance and complexity have become the hallmark and peculiar brand of style of Argento wines. Bodega receives high-quality grapes from vineyards spread over five estates: Agrelo, Altamira, Ugarteche, Pedemonte, Cruz de Piedra.
