Interesting Facts
Fontodi estate situated on a hill in the heart of the historic zone of Chianti Classico. In the late 1960s, it acquired Manetti family, hereditary Florentine masons and potters. In 1998 they completed the construction of one of the first in Tuscany gravitational cellars. When pouring wine from one container to the other pumps are not used, because all the storey location equipment takes place under the influence of gravity. Agriculture advises Fontodi oenologist Franco Bernabei outstanding. The flagship of the house? Supertuscan Flaccianello (100% Sangiovese, 98 points for WS 2001). Pictured on the label Flaccianello cross is in the estate Fontodi: it is the oldest found in Tuscany stone crosses, preserved since the Crusades.
Wine "Case Via" is produced from grapes Syrah, which, depending on the area in which it grows, produces wines that are very different in style and character. Also, this grape has a high yield. To obtain high quality wines, growers are forced to artificially limit productivity. For "Case Via" using grapes from the vineyard Case Via e Pecille, which has a southern exposure. The spontaneous fermentation and maceration are held in a stainless steel tank at a constant temperature control for three weeks. The aging process takes place in French oak barrels and Tronkays Allier for 12 months. Wine "Case Via" has a high potential for exposure. Annually produces 10,000 bottles of wine.
