Interesting Facts

Col D'Orcia - one of the great wine houses in Montalcino. Estate was founded back in 1700, but became widely known only after in 1973 was bought by the world-famous family of winemakers Count Cinzano. In turn, the case Cinzano was founded in the mid 16th century in Turin. Secrets of skill in the family passed down from father to son, so that the current owner Count d'Orcia - Count Francesco Marone Cinzano Wine House has brought in more than four hundred years of experience in the production of alcoholic beverages and wine-making secrets of his family. Currently Col D'Orcia has a reputation of one of the best Italian wine producers. Numerous awards and high ratings of excellent proof.
The vineyards are located on the southern slopes of Montalcino, in a hilly area, at an altitude of about 450 meters above sea level and extend over 540 hectares. This area is very favorable for its location. It is protected from the cold and weather events such as hurricanes or hail. Vineyards are not afraid of the fog, frost or late frosts, and the frequent presence of wind with the Tyrrhenian Sea provides the best conditions for the health of the vines. The climate is typically Mediterranean, with limited rainfall in the months of March, April, November, and December. A large number of sunny days throughout the growing season provides a gradual and complete ripening of the grapes. The special character of the soil, with a small amount of clay and limestone, gives individual structure and elegance of the wines of Montalcino.
Spezieri Toscana IGT 2009 confirms the achievement of Col d'Orcia in the skillful ability to combine varieties to enhance the complexity of aromas and flavors of wine. Inclusion in the noble Merlot and Cabernet from Bordeaux produced in new vineyards, varieties such as Sangiovese and Chiledzholo gives a successful result. The wine becomes even more compelling and well-structured.
