Wine Sohm & Kracher, "Lion" Gruner Veltliner, 2017
The wine is light yellow.
The taste of wine is appetizing, elegant, soft, dry, with a polished texture, sweetish tones of apple and pear, which are balanced by sharp notes of citrus fruits and white pepper. The finish is long, clean.
The aroma of wine is dominated by tones of yellow and green pear, apple and parsley.
Great wine as an aperitif, combined with seafood, poultry, cheeses and fruits.
Sohm & Kracher, "Lion" Gruner Veltliner is a fresh, tasty, very drinkable Gruner Veltliner, which is great as a refreshing aperitif. Wine grapes are grown in organic areas with gravelly lime soils in the Weinviertel wine region in Lower Austria. This is the only wine of the company, which is completely vinified in steel tanks. After spontaneous fermentation, Grüner Veltliner is aged for one year on a thin yeast sediment.
Sohm & Kracher - winery from Lower Austria, which began production of wine in 2009. But her story began a little earlier, in 2004 in New York. It was there that Aldo Soma and Gerhard Kraher met. Aldo Som moved to New York from Tyrol to gain international experience as a sommelier. Today he is the main sommelier of the Le Bernardin restaurant, the most famous restaurant on the east coast of the United States. In his career he received numerous awards, and in recent years he was awarded the title of "Best US Sommelier" and the highest award "Sommelier - World Champion".
At that time, Gerhard Kracher was the right-hand man of Alois Krahera and demonstrated the wines of a family company in the US market. The men were immediately tied up by a strong friendship based on the love of the great wines of the world and excellent food. Today, Gerhard heads the world-famous Kracher winery, whose wines are presented in the wine lists of the best restaurants in 45 countries of the world.
Since 2009, Aldo and Gerhard produce wines called Sohm & Kracher . Both love local Austrian grapes, but they have a special love for the Grüner Veltliner variety. The company has chosen the Weinviertel wine region for its vineyards, as there are many old vineyards and places to rent in its unique soil-climatic terroir. All vineyards are certified as organic, and production is carried out at the family winery Gerhard Krahera. The first wine produced by the company (of course, it was Grüner Veltliner) was a complete success. It has received the best reviews in specialized publications such as "Wine & Spirits". In subsequent years, the success of Som & Kracher wines was secured by high ratings of leading wine critics and high demand from consumers.
