Tasting Notes


Wine opaque, dense color, almost black in the back of the glass and light cherry rim.


The wine has a balanced, fruity, complex taste with rounded tannins and a lingering aftertaste. Aged in barrels adds complexity and taste intensity.


Bouquet of the wine reveals delicate tones of raspberries and cherries, nuances of vanilla, licorice, chocolate cream and hazelnuts.


The wine goes well with tuna, grilled meat dishes with various spices - especially with fried simmered pork, fragrant ripe cheeses.

Interesting Facts

The first red wine, released in 1970 winery Simonsig, it was "Pinotage". Frans Malan became a pioneer in the use of small French oak barrels for aging "Pinotage".
