Deep red wine.
The wine has a pleasant, intense flavor with notes of black currant, silky smooth tannins and a long finish.
Bouquet of the wine is characterized by bright colors of ripe red berries and cherries.
The wine goes well with grilled tuna, spicy Indian cuisine, Cuban cuisine, game, cheeses.
Grapes for wine production is crushed and passed a two-day cold maceration. Fermentation period is usually short, but very active, after which the wine shows succulent fruit flavors. Wine storage capacity of at least 8 years.
Simonsig, Pinotage won three silver medals - in the "Veritas 2009" for the 2006 vintage, "Veritas 2006" for the vintage 2003 and "International Wine Competition 1998", as well as the gold medal at the "Intervin International Award 2002" for the vintage 1999 and the bronze medal at the "International Wine and Spirit Competiiton 2006" for the vintage 2003.
Owner Simonsig wine estate, located in the northwestern part of Stellenbosch, is family Malan. The estate noble grape varieties are cultivated and produced some of the best wines of South Africa. The estate is famous for its red and white wines, and sparkling wines, champagne-producing method. The vineyards of the estate are located at the foot of Simons and cover an area of over 300 hectares. The company is one of the largest private wine producers in South Africa.
