The first vintage Simonsig, Chardonnay winery was released in 1978. Through a combination of the best clones of Chardonnay and superb terroir, the light is born a classic wine that demonstrates the best varietal characteristics. Chardonnay is the basis for the vinification of traditional winemaking philosophy and natural approach. Fermentation begins in stainless steel tanks, the wine is then poured into a 225-liter French oak barrels, where fermentation is completed. Fermentation temperature is carefully monitored. Malolactic fermentation with regular battonazhe and vydezhrka on the lees for 7 months pass in new oak barrels, which allows the wine to buy more complex and rich flavor. Upon completion of the wine from different parties carefully blended to obtain a balanced Chardonnay.
Vintage 2013 received a gold award in the competition Mondial de Bruxelles Competition in 2014.
Simonsig wine estate owner, located in the northwestern part of Stellenbosch, is family Malan. The estate noble grape varieties are cultivated and produced some of the best wines of South Africa. The estate is famous for its red and white wines, and sparkling wines, champagne-producing method. The vineyards of the estate are located at the foot of Simons and cover an area of over 300 hectares. The company is one of the largest private wine producers in South Africa.
