Interesting Facts

Wine "Semillon" got its name from the white varieties ripening grapes grown mainly in France, South Africa, New Zealand and Australia. Widespread this grape has acquired in the Valley Clare (South Australia).

Clare Valley was founded back in 1830. Currently, the Australian region is home to about 50 wineries.

The success of the wine industry is largely due to the special climate and terroir (terrain) region. The climate - temperate continental with cool nights and warm, sometimes hot daytime temperatures. Fresh breezes day play a key role in slowing the ripening process of grapes. Rains are mainly in winter and spring. The relatively low humidity is low extent of fungal disease. Clare Valley soil cover ranges from classic black soil to the ruined clay shale. In general, the soil cover most parts of the Valley of freely drained, holds enough moisture and requires only a small additional reclamation in the hottest period.

With regard to the grape varieties, it is impossible not to note its high yield, early maturity, low acidity and a good degree of exposure - wines produced from varieties of Semillon, can be stored for several years, and with years of quality wines as soon improved.
