Producer's description
In 1984, Jim Koch accidentally discovered in the attic of an old recipe of lager, which created in 1870, his great-grandfather, Louis Koch. Driven by a passion to cook the best beer, Jim began to experiment in the family kitchen, with the hope to take its rightful place in the brewing industry. In April 1985, when the camp "Samuel Adams" Boston Lager debuted in 25 bars and restaurants of Boston, at the brewery had no own office or distributor. Three months later, this beer has been voted "Best Beer of America" in the competition "Great American Beer Festival". By year-end sales of "Samuel Adams" Boston Lager amounted to more than 500 barrels.
The Boston Beer Company, consisting in 1985 of Jim Koch and Rhonda Kallman, today has about 1,200 employees. In 1988 he built a small brewery in Boston. Each year, the range of products enriched with new varieties, and sales are growing exponentially.
