Rustenberg, Unwooded Chardonnay - an elegant wine with the aroma of lemon zest and great refreshing taste. 92% of this wine is fermented with natural yeasts and aged on the lees in stainless steel tanks for 3.5 months. 8% of the pressed juice going through a natural fermentation to add depth and complexity of the wine. Vintage 2010 was awarded a silver medal at the competition "Decanter World Wine Award, 2012".
The history of the manor Rustenberg, one of the most beautiful wineries at the Cape of Good Hope, takes the count in 1682. By 1781 the winery produced 3,000 barrels of wine. By the end of the century the volume of production has doubled, and built new wineries. At the beginning of the XIX century winery was divided his master Jacob Ikstinom. Part of the winery passed his son in law, who named his winery farm "Shongeziht" ("Clean face"), but soon sold it. Rustenberg and Shongeziht reached the peak of its prosperity in 1812, but by the middle of the XIX century the recession and the disease, which destroyed the vineyards, has led both the economy into bankruptcy. In 1892, John H. Merriman and his brother in law Jacob Barry bought Shongeziht and Rustenberg and thus saved them from ruin. Together they breathed new life into the wineries, their wines have become exported to many countries, including Russia. Since 1941, the estate is owned by the family Rustenberg Barlow, later joined by the Shongeziht and economy were reunited.
In 1987, control winery Rustenberg took over Simon Barlow. By the time South Africa freed from apartheid, and Simon put a lot of effort in the development of the company: built a new winery and planted new resistant viruses grapes. Son of Simon and Rosanna Barlow - Murray - recently also became involved in the winery, he graduated from the University of Oenology in Adelaide (Australia) and brought new ideas and modern views on the activities of the company for its successful functioning and development. The winery produces wines without interruption for over 100 years, specializing mainly in blends of Cabernet and Bordeaux-style wines in and leaders of their portfolio have won many international awards and critical acclaim.
