Intense red wine Barbaresco Riserva "Montestefano" has an excellent structure, very powerful and full-bodied taste and amazing aroma with notes of ripe berries. Used for the production of wine grapes Nebbiolo grown in the vineyard Montestefano. The plot is in the top nine of the best vineyards of the cooperative, including also Asili, Rabaya, Pora, Ovello, Montefiko, Mokagatta and Rio Sordo. At those sites, Nebbiolo is cultivated for centuries, so has acquired characteristic of these lands wonderful aroma and rich taste. The first written mention of it date back to the XIV century, then the grade referred to as "nebiul". In 1980 the area was given the status of Barbaresco DOCG (Denominazione di Origine Controllata e Garantita) - the highest category in the classification of Italian wines, which ensures that the wine is ensured state control and guarantee the names on the place of origin. The soil in the Piedmont region comprises mainly limestone, marl and clay, and themselves vines grow on steep hills at an altitude of 200-400 meters above sea level. Going grapes by hand in the first three weeks of October, and then fermented in stainless steel tanks for 15-24 days. Aging wine in large oak barrels lasts 36 months, and then another 8 months wine ages in the bottle. Barbaresco Riserva storage capacity "Montestefano" is an average of 20 years.
Cooperative "Cantine Sociali" for the production of wines from grapes grown in Barbaresco, was established in 1894 Domizio Kavatstsa. He led the Royal School of Enology in Alba, and was a resident of Barbaresco. 9 members of the cooperative became owners of vineyards, together they do release Barbaresco in the local castle. But fascist dictate and related economic sanctions were not allowed to develop cooperative and 1920s it had to close. To revive the once prosperous life winery priest took from Barbaresco, who in 1958 joined nineteen owners the best vineyards in the Cooperative Produttori del Barbaresco. Today Produttori del Barbaresco brings together 56 members. The total area of vineyards Nebbiolo is about 100 hectares, and each of winegrowers strictly controls his land. Just a year cooperative produces about 420,000 bottles of wine, 40% of them - Barbaresco, 40% - from a single vineyard wine "Barbareskos" and 20% - Nebbiolo Langhe.
