Wine Villa Sparina, "MonteRotondo", Gavi DOCG, 2012

Grapes for wine are harvested from a single vineyard "Monterotondo", which is located in the scenic hills of Monferrato at an altitude of 310-350 meters above sea level. Age of vines is 50 years, marl soil. The total vineyard area is about 60 hectares. The berries are picked by hand, fermentation is done in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperature. Held partially malolactic fermentation. The wine is aged on the lees for 4 months in barriques, then another 4 months in steel tanks. Wine storage potential is 5-8 years.

The owner of the company - Stefano Mokkagatto - is an ardent admirer of the Italian painter Giorgio Morandi, whose canvases influenced the unusual design of the bottles. Stefano commented: "We wanted to create a recognizable wine, perfect in form and content." "Monterotondo" is the top white wine sector, it is the first in the commune won "three glasses" of the Gambero Rosso. "Monterotondo", created with the 50-year-old vines separate Crewe, was the beginning of the triumphant march of Villa Sparina. In 2009, this wine was chosen as the official wine for the Energy Forum Group of Eight (Great8), held in Rome.

Villa Sparina winery is located near a small village in the community of Monterotondo Gavi. Winemaking here dates back to the XVII century.
