Producer's description
Working together, father and son Mastrojanni well aware that their new vineyards are located in one of the greatest terroirs of Italy, and did everything possible to maximize reflect its undeniable merits of its wine.
As followers of traditional viticulture and winemaking, Mastroianni also took on the farm philosophy of respect for nature and "humility." This approach implies the maximum preservation of the natural characteristics of the grapes with minimal human impact on natural processes in the vineyard and winery. However, such "non-interference" often requires more effort than usual. For example, the harvest on the farm is carried out in three stages. In the first pass remove damaged and diseased bunch. Then harvested healthy and had time to fully mature brush, and a few days later removed and the remaining dospevshy grapes.
Brought to the winery berries subjected to further sorting on a special conveyor belt that allows you to use in the manufacture of wine only the best grapes. Fermentation of wort in the household used reinforced concrete tank with a number of advantages over steel tanks, but vinification best of the crop is produced in the Vosges oak vats.
The very first wine Mastrojanni showed elegant, interesting and stressed terroir character. Gabriele Mastroianni very quickly been recognized manufacturer of high quality wines that have long exposure and potential for 10-15 years could develop in the bottle, getting over this time a fantastic bouquet. The same reputation and continued to support his son Antonio, who led the company in the early 90s.
In 2008, several years after the death of Gabriele, his heirs sold the farm known family holding Illy. The new owners, as supporters of the same methods and principles of which have been previously adopted in the economy, almost did not change anything.
Who can say with certainty that the change of ownership does not affect the quality of wines Mastrojanni and economy, as before, takes pride of place in the top ten producers of Brunello di Montalcino.
