Interesting Facts
Les Carmes de Rёsek has a distinctive aroma with hints of citrus. The name of the wine, Les Carmes de Rёssek comes from the monastery, who owned vineyards Rёssek in the 18th century. During the French Revolution, the estate was confiscated and sold. Starting from 1790, ownership changed hands several times until in 1984 it has acquired the Domain Baron de Rothschild Lafite, the owners of which not only have not stinted on the most necessary in the interests of business costs, but excluding any compromises if they touch technology of wine production. After a long work to restore and improve the productivity of vineyards became visible long-awaited results: since 1995, almost every crop of the estate can be called famous.
Les Carmes de Rёsek Cotern - the second wine of Chateau producer after Rёssek Premier Grand Cru. Each of these is considered a classic Sauternes wines.
The wine is made according to all standards. Picking berries affected by noble rot, there is a little later than usual and made by hand. Further there is a strict selection at the winery. Fermentation lasts 2-4 weeks in oak barrels, 60% of which are updated annually, and is held at controlled temperatures. Aged in barrels is 18 months, and a year produced no more than six thousand boxes. It is recommended to decant the wine before serving.
