Producer's description
The founder and owner of the winery "Kaufmann" is a Swiss entrepreneur Urban Kaufmann, who until 2013 ran one of the best dairies Appenzell. But Kaufmann dreamed of his own winery and for many years traveled around Europe in search of the perfect place to realize his dream. A turning point in the life of Urbana was a meeting with Eva Rapes, the managing director of the German Association of High-Quality Wine Producers. In 2014, Kaufmann and Rapps took over the management of the winery "Hans Lang", which has long been known for the best vineyards on the slopes in Rheingau. It was here that began to create wines "Kaufmann". "Hattenheim is the right place for me, and now is the right time. The vineyards around Hattenheim mean the best for me in the wine world," says Urban.
Winery "Kaufmann" owns wonderful vineyards, including the highest GG category (Grosses Gewächs, or Grand Cru), certified as organic, and since 2017 and the production of wine has been certified by the association Demeter as biodynamic.
