Interesting Facts

An elegant white wine "Capo Martino" got its name from the hill of Capo Martino, located in the heart of Collio. Silvio Jermann bought land here in 1991 and broke the vineyard in an area of 7.5 hectares. The first harvest in 1991 has been grown for a single vintage, which was called "little dream of the promised land" ("Piccolo Sogno verso una terra promessa"), to honor the memory of the "journey", which made a great-grandfather Silvio - Anton Jermann 110 years ago from Bilidzhana (now Collio words) in Villanova. "Little Dream" has revived the traditions and practices of past generations. To create this unique white wine were selected historical grape varieties - Ribolla Jia and current. Later, this wine was named "Capo Martino".

"Capo Martino", created in 2007 from a blend of four grape varieties: Tokay Friulano (which accounts for 70% of the varietal composition), Ribolla Jalla, Malvasia Istrana and Picolit. Fermentation of grapes and aging for 12-16 months are held in 750-liter barrels made of Slavonian oak. Another 7 months, the wine is aged in bottles and is sold only in two years after the harvest. The label of "Capo Martino 'depict, so dear to the heart of man, engaged in agriculture: the sun, the water, grape like fruit of the neighborhood, and fish as symbols of religion.

A history that began in 1881, when Anton Jermann - praprapradeda Silvio Yermana, founder of Jermann - left the Austrian wine region of Burgenland, and later the vineyards of Slovenia, to take root in the Italian region of Friuli-Venezia Giulia. Here in the small village of Villanova di Farra, he founded his own family winery. And in 1970, Silvio Jermann made a real revolution in winemaking. Friuli - a region located in the north of Italy and borders with Slovenia, has always had a reputation manufacturer of light aromatic white wines that are easy to drink, but not of particular interest outside the region. Silvio Jermann was the one who forever changed this view. He is rightly considered a real artist in winemaking in the region. Silvio brought us incredible success and worldwide fame. Today, ownership of farms Jermann stretch more than 150 hectares of land, of which 130 hectares of vineyards occupy, and the remaining 20 are given under cereal crops grown for the production of organic flour.

Producer's description

Silvio Jermann is a true revolutionary in winemaking. Before him, Friuli, a region located in northern Italy, has always had a reputation for producing light, aromatic white wines that are easy to drink, but of little interest outside the area. Silvio, who graduated from two well-known wine academies: Cornellano and Instituto de San Michele, enriched with rather bold ideas, began his work in Canada. This gave him the opportunity to conduct experiments that he could not even dream of in his homeland, where winemakers steadily followed conservative ideas and long-established traditions.
Already in the 70s, Silvio returned to his homeland, where he inherited the winery of his great-grandfather Anton Yerman. Thanks to his experience, innovative ideas and adherence to tradition, Silvio began to produce the best white wines in the country. His "Vintage Tunina", "Capo Martino" and "W… Dreams" consistently top the Italian ratings and brought the company unimaginable success and worldwide fame.

Today, Jermann owns more than 150 hectares of land, of which 130 hectares are vineyards, and the remaining 20 are given over to cereals grown for the production of organic flour. The basic principles adhered to by the company Jermann in the production of their wines - a skillful combination of innovation and tradition and boundless imagination. And of course, the use of historical local grape varieties. According to Silvio himself, wine should awaken the senses and give a sense of authenticity.
