Interesting Facts
Chateau Beshevel dates back to the 17th century, when the land estates acquired Duke Jean-Louis de la Valette Nogaret and built here his ancestral castle. Chateau emblem to this day is a ship on the nose which depicts a mythical beast Griffin, rescue chariot of the god of wine Dionysus depths of the sea. So the name comes from the French Beshevel "Baisse-Voile", which means "lowered the sails" because passing the castle of Jean-Louis de la Valette Nogaret, lower a little ships sail in homage to the legendary Admiral, and later governor of Guyenne. Today, the estate owns 250 hectares of land in Saint-Julien, 90 of whom hold excellent vineyards. There are great wines, which have a long storage potential, but at the same time exhibit excellent organoleptic characteristics and at a young age.
Grand Bateau Blanc wine has a rich taste of the typical white Bordeaux grapes for this wine are harvested by hand, then after maceration of 75% of the wine is fermented in stainless steel tanks, 25% in new oak barrels. The wine is bottled in late spring following the harvest.
