Wine Domaine Danjou-Banessy, "Les Myrs", 2015
The wine is dark, deep red.
The taste of wine is well structured and has an enviable concentration. Mineral notes and crunchy acidity give it a palpable freshness. The aftertaste is long, bright, filled with notes of raspberries and cherries.
The aroma of wine combines refinement and freshness, delicate floral hues with dense notes of blueberries, raspberries, cherries and hints of spices.
The wine is served with red fish, white meat, venison and other game, fried pigeon, rabbit or desserts with citrus fruits.
"Les Myrs" is a small site with very old 90-year-old vines of Carignano grapes, growing on black shale soils with a layer of limestone. Grapes are collected by hand in small boxes. After careful sorting, fermentation begins in open containers on its own natural yeast, while the crests and peel of the grapes are not removed. The penetration of the caps of the pulp is carried out by the feet. After 20 days, the mixture is gently wrung out on the pneumatic press. For aging, old barricks are used, in which the wine ripens for 18 months. Before the use of "Le Mir" long decantation is recommended.
The brothers Benoit and Sebastian Danjou are descended from the genus of hereditary winemakers, but the main teacher they call their grandfather, who devoted his whole life to the fortification of Rivesalt. The grandsons inherited not only his work, but also his passion. In Domaine Danjou-Banessy they apply old methods in combination with modern, environmentally friendly technologies for making white and red dry wines. The brothers are the keepers of the family style and an impressive collection of old fortified wines.
To date, the Danjou-Banessi Domain owns 15 hectares of vineyards in the Aglı Valley, which are scattered across terroirs in many places. All Domain wines are fruit, mineral, fresh and very expressive, but are perceived in different ways, depending on their origin.
