Wine De Trafford, Chenin Blanc, 2010

Chenin Blanc 2010 - fine dry wine made from Chenin Blanc grapes. The berries were collected from three sites vineyards located in Helderberg. Soil - granite, with a high moisture content, not irrigated. Age of vines between 25 and 40 years. Yields in 2010 were particularly low. Wine is kept for 10 months in 225 liter barrels and 700 liter drums which are made of French oak, and 20% are new. The wine does not undergo malolactic fermentation, and is not filtered before bottling.
In 2010, due to the very difficult weather conditions, the yield was very low. Cool, cloudy, rainy spring and very strong winds affected both the quantity and the quality of the harvest, which was not only small, but also damaged. At the same time, low yields contributed to the rapid maturation, the first gathering was an early, besides berries were at the peak of ripeness, while retaining the complexity of taste.
De Trafford Winery is situated on the farm "Mont Fleur" between Stellenbosch and Helderberg Mountain, in the farthest corner of the region.
