Interesting Facts
White wine "Vigne du Prieure" from Chateau Zhigonyan made of 3 grape varieties grown in the vineyards surrounding the Château, on marl, sand and limestone soils. The average age of the vines - about 20 years. The grapes for the production of this wine is harvested by hand, fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks. Vintage 2010 won the gold medal in 2011 at the "consumer choice" in Vacqueyras.
Château Zhigonyan, located near the village of Sorgues, near the famous Le Grand Zhigonyan, was built in the XIX century, was originally a monastery here. Calle family acquired the castle in 1966 and has invested heavily in its complete reconstruction, including basements and industrial premises. Now they own 72 hectares of vineyards in three appellasonah France: Cotes du Rhone, Cotes du Rhone and Chateauneuf The Village du-Pape. The new team, led by winemakers Laura Ambroise and Eloy dyurbe of the legendary Domaine de Trevallon completely switched to organic production and immediately doubled the yield of the winery. All the changes have transformed the Chateau Zhigonyan a world-class winery.
