Interesting Facts
More than 200 years ago, when the island of Sardinia ruled by the Spaniards, they planted varietal Grenache grape, which in the dialect known as Sardegnan Cannonau. Vines survived, flourished and became perhaps the most important variety for the production of red wines on the island.
Rich and multi-layered red wine "Costera" is made from grapes grown in the fire, in the countryside Siurgus Donigala, in the zone Sarais e Sisini, situated at an altitude of 220 meters above sea level. Soils are saturated and mixed, consisting of limestone, clay, medium texture with a tendency to looseness, small and medium-sized pebbles. The Mediterranean climate is characterized by mild winters, limited rainfall, heat and wind. The grapes are harvested by hand early in the morning. Maceration occurs at a controlled temperature of 28-30 ° C for 10-12 days. For fermentation, the wine is placed in a ceramic vats. Matures "Costera" in small oak casks for 8-10 months, after which the wine is for short-term aging in bottle.
