Interesting Facts
District Corton-Charlemagne is located in Burgundy, just north of Beaune. These lands get their name from the famous emperor Charlemagne, who acquired vineyards in most of his dominion. In 775, the area was donated to the abbey Abby of Saulieu. Corton-Charlemagne vineyard grows mainly on clay and limestone rocks. It has an area of 0.363 hectares, the average age of the vines - 30 years. There is a legend that Charles the Great, appreciating the successful exhibition area, a few vines planted here. For the king made a special white "Corton", that Karl did not soiled luxurious white beard red wine. Now wine is called "Corton-Charlemagne", which translated from French means "Charlemagne".
This wine has an expressive terroir complexity by different soils in all three villages. Wine requires at least 5 years of aging in the bottle before it reveal its full potential. Features of production: fermentation (malolactic and alcohol) takes place in oak barrels of 228 liters (30% of the barrels are constantly updated). Wine subjected agitated (battonazhu). After 15 months, it is removed from the precipitate, and then poured into barrels or small barriques. Allowing the wine to rest for several weeks, it is clarified. It is bottled after 18 months.
