Company founder Umberto Cesari devoted his life to winemaking. Father Umberto hoped that his son would continue his business and devote himself to the sale of wine. But Umberto decided to invest its resources in the production of quality wines. In the 60s of the wine region of Emilia-Romagna were far from perfect. Umberto Cesari, a pioneer in his field, was among the first who believed that local varieties can produce great wines. In 1967 he bought a small vineyard in the hills of Castel San Pietro and founded the company that bears his name. With these first 20 hectares of vineyards begins the path that led to the title of Umberto Cesari one of the best producers of Emilia-Romagna. The company gradually expanded and now Umberto Cesari owns 120 hectares in the heart of Emilia-Romagna, and its wines have become a whole milestone not only in Italian, but also the international wine industry. The main varieties grown Cesari - is Sangiovese, Albana, Trebbiano and Pignoletto, but there are also international varieties such as Sauvignon, Merlot and Chardonnay, used to create the blended wines. The team of winemakers and agronomists are constantly working under the direction of Umberto Cesari not only on the production of quality wines, but also in research and innovation, in cooperation with the University of Bologna. Each year the company invests 5% of its turnover in the development and improvement of agricultural practices and care. All methods of growing grapes based on a huge respect for the environment.
