Robert Parker in his Wine Buyer's Guide Te Mata took to the five most prominent manufacturers in the world, and Coleraine was recognized leader among them New Zealand wines. The wine received its name in honor of the eponymous vineyard, which in turn was named after the Coleraine in Northern Ireland - the birthplace of his grandfather John Buck - Te Mata owner. Thus, through the name of the wine reflects part of the history of the family. Coleraine first wine was produced in 1982 and became a sensation INSTANT within New Zealand due to its superior quality. The optimal aging wine - 8-20 years.
