His enthusiasm and desire to make Lambrusco wines world-famous were passed on to the next generations.
The region of Emilia-Romagna is the birthplace of the Lambrusco variety, and its perfect wines were mentioned even in the time of the ancient Romans. The roots of Lambrusco are the history of this land, and the juice is its blood that has flowed through the veins of many passed generations and fills the hearts of those who live now. Among the admirers of this wine can be called Enzo Ferrari, who never sat down to eat without a bottle of his beloved Lambrusco, and Luciano Pavarotti, who hated to leave Modena.
Today Donnelly owns 160 hectares of vineyards in Lambrusco, and on the territory of its winery there is a wine museum, which has one of the most complete exhibits in Italy. Donelly is the exclusive official supplier of Ferrari Marlboro racing team wines. The huge bottles, designed by the Italian artist Viner Wakkari and released in limited quantities, celebrate the anniversaries of Ferrari and Maserati. Since the 90s of the 20th century, Donnelly has been run by the Giacobazzi family. In 2015, in the year of its century, the company conducted rebranding, improving the design of bottles, labels and logos, and replenished the range of products with new beverages.
The family company Giacobazzi was founded in 1958 in the Italian region of Emilia-Romagna. Already in the 1970s and 1980s, the Jacobazzi winery took the first place in the production of sparkling wines in the region and received the title "Brand No. 1" from all Italian media. In the production of wines, the company combines centuries-old traditions and modern technologies. In each product, the experts of Jacobazzi seek to reflect the identity of their native land. All the company's wines correspond to high quality standards, and yearly production volumes only increase. The company Cantine Sgarzi Luigi has a history since 1933, when Luigi Sgartsi bought a small winery. He supplied wines to hotels in Bologna, using oak barrels and horse-drawn carts. The Luigi case was continued by his son Vincenzo and his nephew Stefano, who entered his uncle’s business in the late 1970s, after graduating from university. In those years, the company significantly increased production volumes. Stefano Sgartso focused on exports. Thanks to him, Cantina Sgartsi Luigi has earned the title of one of the best Italian wineries. Now the company is located in Castel San Pietro Terme in Emilia Romagna. It is surrounded by family vineyards, and in the modern headquarters above the vast cellars there is a private laboratory and a tasting room. The Cantine Sgarzi Luigi range includes traditional wines, juices and wine materials, vermouth and other wine-based beverages, as well as an organic product line.
