Tasting Notes
The wine is very dark cherry color.
Taste wine rich, powerful, very structured, with soft and ripe tannins and notes of dark fruit in excellent long aftertaste.
Wine with a rich thick aroma, in which notes of black cherry liqueur infused with hints of licorice, Provencal herbs, wild fruits, herbs and wood.
The wine is perfect with cold dishes, meat dishes and cheeses.
Interesting Facts
"Vigne du Regent" from Chateau Gigognan - red wine with elegant fruit flavors, made in the Provencal style of the traditional grapes of the Rhone Valley varieties: Grenache, Mourvedre and Syrah grown on terraces in Chateauneuf-du-Pape. The average age of the vines - about 38 years. Vines have low productivity and deep roots nourish the grapes minerals and provides the perfect ripening of the grapes in any weather. The grapes are harvested by hand and subjected to a thorough sorting, crushed and subjected to maceration for 10 days at a controlled temperature. Then the wine is aged in oak barrels, lightened using egg white and subjected to a light filtration before bottling. The wine can be drunk now, as it has excellent potential storage - up to 2025.
Château Zhigonyan, located near the village of Sorgues, near the famous Le Grand Zhigonyan, was built in the XIX century, was originally a monastery here. Calle family acquired the castle in 1966 and has invested heavily in its complete reconstruction, including basements and industrial premises. Now they own 72 hectares of vineyards in three appellasonah France: Cotes du Rhone, Cotes du Rhone and Chateauneuf The Village du-Pape. The new team, led by winemakers Laura Ambroise and Eloy dyurbe of the legendary Domaine de Trevallon completely switched to organic production and immediately doubled the yield of the winery. All the changes have transformed the Chateau Zhigonyan a world-class winery.
