Interesting Facts
Winery Château Tour de Pez has a rich history. The name of the village comes from the name Pez fief, which in the 16th century belonged to the families Pontak and Fumel. However, the modern name of farm Chateau Tour de Pez received not so long ago, in 1931. It was named in honor of the old tower, built in the 13th century, which still dominates the vineyard (the French word "tour" means "tower"). That is the Tour de Pez - Tower near the village of Pez. Since 1989, the owner of Chateau Philippe Bouchard from becoming a major cosmetics company. He put a lot of effort to improve the quality of wine produced on the estate, among his innovations: the use of cutting and removal of immature fruits (green fee) for a more thorough control over the quality of the harvest, except that all the grapes are harvested by hand and passed a rigorous selection. Supported yields in the vineyard 45-48 hectoliters per hectare of vines age 30 - 35 years. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks with temperature-controlled fermentation, the wine is waiting for further aging in oak barrels (of which 40 percent new barrels) for 12 - 14 months.
