Already in the XV century manor Zhiskur was known as grape. According to the classification in 1855 the estate was assigned to the Third Grand Cru Class. The area of vineyards of the estate is more than 80 hectares. Gravel soil that promotes good drainage and subsoil layer consists of coarse sand. The total production of 25,000 cases of wine per year. Wine Chateau Zhiskur 2004 appreciated by specialists. Robert Parker wrote of him: "This is a great, hedonistic, Margot complex, which can be drunk now and in 12-14 years."
Producer's description
The first mention of Giscourt Castle dates back to 1330. Thanks to the efforts of Eric Albal Yelgersma, who acquired the winery in 1995, the wines of Château Giscourt gained fame and became one of the best wines in Bordeaux. Château vineyards are located on the territory of three wine-growing areas of the Margaux appellation: Cantenac, Labard and Arsac, where the characteristics of local soils allow the production of wines with softness and finesse. The wines of Château Giscourt are made according to the technology that complies with the requirements of the International Organization for Standardization, issued to the economy in January 2001, which guarantees their consistently high quality.
