Producer's description
Chateau Blaignan is located in a picturesque area in the north of the Medoc. He owns 140 hectares of land, 97 hectares of which is occupied by the age of the vines 25 years. Vineyards Chateau Blenyan grow on clay-limestone soils of the region and wine complies with all the traditions of the region Medoc. These vineyards were already known in the XIV century. In the Middle Ages in these places was a fortress, which is owned by the Lords Blenyan on whose behalf it was given the name and location, and is located next to the fortress village.
In the 17th century, after the revolution, the land, including the ruins of an ancient fortress, acquired Pierre Merman - Protestant from Dutch family, who settled in Bordeaux. His family, including his daughter, Jeanne Marie Reine Peychaud using her husband built in these locations modern manor "Taffard-Blaignan". They greatly expanded the boundaries of the property, had a repair of buildings and built a country house. Under the brand Chateau Taffard de Blaignan in 1932 was awarded the wine class Cru Bourgeois.
In 2004, the Chateau was purchased Blenyan CA Grands Crus - a subsidiary of Groupe Credit Agricole.
