Interesting Facts
Ridge company began its first experiments with Chardonnay in 1962. After that, the company has implemented the planting of new vines in the territories in the neighborhood, which later became part of the farm called Santa Cruz Mountains. The grapes for California Santa Cruz Mountains Chardonnay harvested in September. After pressing and fermentation in barrels, the wine is kept in oak for 16 months.
Company History Ridge Vineyards dates back to 1885, when the doctor Osea Perrone, an immigrant from Italy, bought 180 acres of land in the mountains of Santa Cruz, on the slopes of the Monte Bello Ridge broke the three-level terraces and planted vines. The winery was built here from natural limestone. After the repeal of Prohibition in 1940, the winery and vineyards bought William Short, and in the early 60s the estate acquired new owners - Dave Benon and its partners. Today, the equipment used is not any comparison with the simple devices that have been before, but Ridge Vineyards continue to adhere to the traditional methods of winemaking.
