Tasting Notes
Wine of deep red color.
The wine has a velvety taste with notes of berries, herbs, minerals and chocolate. A good balance of tannins and a long finish.
The wine has a smoky flavor with hints of raspberry and cherry compote, supplemented by notes of minerals and a hint of fresh roses.
The wine goes well with meat dishes and large game, as well as cheeses.
Interesting Facts
Alvaro Palacios did not immediately become a winemaker, but quickly realized the position and prospects of shale terraces with old and abandoned vineyards near the town of GALLARDO, on the border with Galicia, the first time he saw them even when traveling around the Spanish village famous French barriques for sale at the end of the 1980s . After the resounding success of the Priory, Palacios, along with his nephew Ricardo Pérez studying in Bordeaux, come to grips with a new project (called "Heirs of Jose Palacios" - in honor of his father and grandfather Alvaro Ricardo), acquiring more than a hundred small sites (large vineyards in the small Bierzo almost no) with autochthonous varieties Mencia vines. Alvaro Palacios practicing biodynamic winemaking, trusts extract their kontsentpipovannyh wines only French barriques and bottles without filtering. Villa de GALLARDO wine is named after the ancient town GALLARDO. Once upon a time through a road in Compostella, the tomb of the Apostle James: Europe at the time it was much more important than the highway, "the Paris-Madrid" for the present.
