"Varietales" Garnacha, 2012 is made from Garnacha grapes, which is grown in the vineyard "Las Terrassas" located on the estate of Los Almendros. Wine belongs to the range of wines, created by enologist of Baron de Ley, in order to, first, show a wide diversity of varieties of Spanish grapes (the name "Varietales" in Spanish means "graded"), and secondly to prove that those grape varieties, which are traditionally considered to be of secondary importance (only used as "supplements" that give the wine greater complexity and expression), can serve as a basis for creating unique characteristic wines.
The grapes for the production of "Varietales" Garnacha harvested by hand. The alcohol fermentation was carried out in stainless steel vats for 7 days. The wine is aged 6 months in French oak barrels. Experts recommend to consume this wine until 2017.
Vintages 2011 and 2012 were awarded bronze medals at the "International Wine & Spirit Competition" in 2014 and 2015, respectively.
