Producer's description
Vinogradary activities of the Ponnel family began around 1870. Pierre-Lazard Ponnel founded at that time his wine house and his manor. He brilliantly developed this activity, conducting a large amount of research on the processes of winemaking, in particular - understanding of fermentation, and collaborated with Louis Pasteur, who lived in Dol, near Bon.
The sons of Ponnel became his successors, and one of them, Albert, decided to establish his own company for growing grapes and making the greatest wines Côte de Bon and Côte de Nuits. In the footsteps of Albert, his son Louis went, and then his grandson Pierre, who today controls the domain Albert Ponnelle . Owning its own vineyards in Côte de Beaune, the company also produces wines from grapes purchased in other regions. Viticulture is conducted without the use of chemical fertilizers and the use of heavy machinery. Vineyards are cultivated according to the principles of biodynamics, and in the production of wine, the addition of sulfur is as limited as possible.
