Dry white wine Riesling "Brand" with pure fruit flavors made from Riesling grapes harvested from 27 year old vines that grow on granite soils rich content of black mica. Berries in the vineyard "Bran de Turckheim" ripen early enough, and this contributes to a number of factors - high angle of inclination of the landing, southern exposure and dark, quickly absorbs the heat of the soil. This "hot" feature of the site is reflected in the name of the wine - the word "Brand" from German means "fire." The yield - 38 hl / ha. The harvest in 2009 took place in mid-October. Harvest characteristics and the presence of yeast berries at the beginning of the harvest contributed sufficiently rapid fermentation. Indicator residual sugar - 4.9 g / l.
Harmonious wine Riesling "Brand", 2009, which gently combines subtle minerality and notes of ripe berries, has good storage potential - 10-12 years.
Company Domaine Zind-Humbrecht was created in 1959, when Leonardo Umbreht Zind and Genevieve married and joined the family property. Leonardo, whose family was engaged in viticulture in 1620, did a lot for the development of the wine sector, moving it to the top ten wineries in Alsace, and will forever remain a place of honor in the history of this domain.
Olivier Umbreht - Leonardo son, became the first Frenchman, who qualified as "Master of Wine". He is worthy of taking over the reins from his father. Today, Leonardo, Genevieve, Olivier and Margaret Umbreht jointly managed the estate with a total area of 40 hectares, spread out on the territory of 5 different villages.
Average yield vineyards in the Domain Zind-Umbreh - 35 hl / ha, which is two times less than traditional indicators of class vineyards Grand Cru. Leonard has always been a supporter of the low yields. His commitment to the best terroirs of Alsace led him to purchase unusual sites "Rangen" and "Clos Windsbuhl", from the acquisition of which other manufacturers refused because of inability to use mechanized equipment there. This problem Leonard quickly decided using earthworks horses. In this act and expressed Umbreht family management style - an unusual approach, precision, foresight, unconditional respect and love for the quality of their work.
