Interesting Facts

Easy, gentle, aromatic wine Torrevento, "Pezzapiana" is created from the autochthonous Italian grape varieties Bombino Bianco and Pampanuto grown in the area of Castel del Monte DOC. The vineyard is located in the region Murgia north of Bari. The vines are planted at a density of 4,500 plants per hectare at an altitude of 350-400 meters above sea level on alluvial clay-calcareous soils of medium texture. Harvesting is usually done in the second half of September. The wort is produced by soft pressing of carefully selected, healthy berries have reached optimum maturity. Fermentation occurs in the temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. The wine is made in steel tanks for 3 months.

Since 1948, the company Torrevento engaged in wine trade and wine, is a family Liantonio (Liantonio). Since 1989, it is led by Dr. Francesco Liantonio, who left for the family business department professor. Thanks to him, the company began producing the typical Apulian wines, successfully combining winemaking traditions of the region and the achievements of modern technology. In the vineyards of the company began to cultivate mainly indigenous grape varieties: Negroamaro, Bombino Nero and Bombino Bianco, Nero di Troia and Aglianico. Francesco pointed out that most of the local winemakers felt such unpromising beginnings, or even crazy, but time has proved him right. Today Torrevento is an example of the most successful family businesses in Puglia.
The Company owns approximately 200 hectares of vineyards and as much again it Orenda from local farmers in the long term.
