Wine Schlumberger, "Cuvee Ernest" Riesling Selection de Grains Nobles, 2009
The wine is a golden yellow color with a beautiful greenish sheen.
Rich, dense, sweet, both elegant and fresh wine with a round taste, having silky texture and delicate hints of yellow fruit and minerals. Powerful aftertaste expresses the character of the terroir, giving the wine an extraordinary depth.
The complex, expressive aroma of wine is presented notes of candied lemon slices, ripe apricots, pink grapefruit, pickled ginger and fruit caramel. Aeration reveals tones of yellow fruit, silicon and flower honey.
The wine is an excellent aperitif, digestif, wine for meditation. Drink harmony with duck liver with apples and leeks and strong cheeses. Also, the wine goes well with dense desserts such as cake with butter cream and caramelized tropical fruits.
Wines range Selections de Grains Nobles made from crop to mature vines. Overripe grapes are harvested and zaizyumlennym: before the harvest the berries are left on the vines for a few weeks for the withering. The dried grapes, which reached a high concentration of sugar in the fruit is sent for crushing and vinification. So sweet wines are more than wine "late harvest", but also very fresh, with a strong natural acidity and unique flavor.
The wine "Cuvee Ernest" is made from Riesling grapes grown in the area "Kitterle" Grand Cru. Vineyard "Kitterle" located on the hilly slopes, not far from the valley of Guebwiller. Soils site consists of sandstone and volcanic rock. 2009 harvest harvested by hand on October 30. Grapes has been carefully sorted: in production received only the berries affected by noble rot. Pressing botrytised fruit lasted 12 hours; the volume of must obtained amounted to 1700 liters. Slow "cold" fermentation lasted until the beginning of spring. After fermenting wort is filtered and allowed to be maintained year on the lees. Matured wine has undergone a secondary filter. March 21, 2011 the wine was bottled. This was followed by additional bottle aging in a cool cellar at a controlled temperature, which lasted more than a year. Residual sugar in the finished wine is 109.8 grams per liter. The acidity of the drink - 4.48 grams per liter.

The next owner was the son of Jean Schlumberger - Paul, who was forced to move to Paris with his family (wife and sons, 6), since at the time Alsace was annexed to Germany. His three sons moved to the United States, where they founded the oil company of the same name, and one of his sons - Ernest returned to the winery. He was a fan of wine and dedicated his life to his favorite occupation. Despite the fact that as a result of the disease in one of the years lost all the grapes, Ernest did not despair, and transplanted the vines and expanded its ownership from 40 hectares to 110 hectares. He used a horizontal landing system. Later moved to vineyard management Ernest daughter, Christine, and later her eldest son Eric. Eric Schlumberger retired in 2001 and handed over the company to his son and brother.
Today Domain Schlumberger uses to make wine exclusively own grapes, can boast only 22% of Alsace wine. In addition, the economy is gradually beginning to use organic winemaking principles. 60 hectares of land is being processed in a similar way, with 30 hectares of them practice biodynamic viticulture.
