Interesting Facts

Whisky Royal Brackla "Connoisseurs Choice" in 1995 distilled to "royal" distillery Royal Brackla, located in the north Hayltnda, almost on the border with Speyside. Careful adherence to the masters of preparation technology provides whiskey drink individual, slightly spicy and fresh flavor that is revealed at the first sip. Light golden color and notes of sherry in the taste of whiskey "Royal Brackla" caused by alcohol exposure in barrels of sherry made from American oak.

Royal Brackla Distillery was built in 1812 by Captain William Fraser of Brackla and called simply "Brackla". The prefix "Royal" ("Royal") she received in 1835, when it became a supplier of whiskey for the court of King William IV, and Queen Victoria gave the official royal permission for production of whiskey. This title is a great honor, given that only three distilleries are entitled to use the word "Royal" in its name. Since 1898, the distillery has repeatedly changed hands, rebuilt and expanded, but the production did not stop and even doubled by 1970. In 1985, Royal Brackla was closed. The plant was reopened in 1991 and still operates.

Brand "Connoisseur's Choice" is well known among connoisseurs of whiskey. Under this brand are produced single malt whiskey, which are produced by little-known distilleries, facing the threat of closure and disappearance. From 1980 to 1995, in Scotland was closed 29 distilleries, some of which are entirely ceased to exist, and some indefinitely suspended its work. The reasons for closing are different, but it would be a pity to lose all whiskey produced at these distilleries. Each of these hard liquor has its own unique properties that could never be obtained with production at any other distillery. It is for this reason, Gordon and McPhail for many years bought up in bulk malt from little-known distilleries, thus saving them from closing. All made of whiskey and thus began to be produced under the brand name "Connoisseur's Choice".
