Wine cooperative Santo Isidro Pegoes was founded in 1958 on the lands of the village in the district Pegoesh that the Portuguese government has allocated for use by small wineries. Currently 140 members of the organization owns about 900 hectares of vineyards, located in the valley of the river Sado and in the coastal areas of the peninsula Sebutal. This area is rich in sandy soils with a high content of minerals, the most suitable for the cultivation of both local and international grape varieties.
