Wine La Velona, Rosso di Montalcino DOC, 2010
Wine of deep ruby red color.
The taste of the wine is full, rich, well-structured, with fruity and woody tones, tannic structure and a long finish.
The wine shows a powerful, complex flavor, woven from the notes of black currant, licorice and cedar.
The wine is excellent with dishes of red meat, game and mature cheeses.
Vineyards farms occupy an area of 12 hectares, they are planted with Sangiovese Grosso. Planting density of vines is 3,300 vines / ha. Mediterranean climate with hot dry summers and low rainfall throughout the growing season promotes optimal ripening and unusual breezes in the summer to protect the vines from disease and mildew. The soil is rich in vineyards Miocene chalk, marl, tuff and fossils.
La Velona produces three different wines:
- Famous wine "Brunello di Montalcino", a symbol of these lands and experience in the production of Italian wines;
- "Sant'Antimo", red wine, named after the nearby Abbey of San Antimo;
- "Rosso di Montalcino", gentle, charming wine;
